How it works

Sponsorship

Role of a Sponsor

As Government Authorised Exchange Sponsors, GTI is required to:

  • Ensure the accuracy of information provided to the Home Office on the Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)
  • Keep this information accurate at all times during the internship
  • Notify the Home Office of any changes in circumstances during the internship - for example, changes to dates of employment, work locations, contact details, salary, job descriptions etc.
  • Meet certain record-keeping and reporting obligations for each CoS assigned

Before you request sponsorship:

We will require evidence that all of the eligibility criteria will be met before we can sponsor an internship. You will need to provide:

  • Evidence of the intern’s degree-level studies
  • Employment contract between the intern & UK employer
  • Internship Plan outlining the purpose, learning objectives, training & development
  • Intern’s CV
  • Intern’s passport & UK visa history

Employers will need to commit to meet all record keeping and reporting requirements and to stay in touch with GTI during the internship to confirm any changes in circumstances
